Ronald J. Williams, Director of The Broomfield Choral Festival, invites all singers to join the chorus for our seventh annual community-wide concert. We will prepare Schubert's Mass No. 6 in E flat which we will perform with professional soloists and orchestra at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 26. The concert will be free and open to the public.
No auditions are required to sing. Registration is $40 which includes your own vocal score. There is no registration fee for student singers. Rehearsals will take place every other week beginning July 8. You need not attend all 10 rehearsals, but do plan to attend the majority of them. Space is limited, so you are encouraged to register early; those who register at the door may not have music for the first rehearsal.
Composed in 1828, a few months before Schubert's death, the monumental Mass in E flat is worthy of a place alongside the great masses of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Bruckner. Grandiose and moving, yet at the same time simple and meditative, Schubert has brought his epic gift of lyricism to this powerful and thoughtful masterpiece. It is a stunning work that both musicians and audience will fully enjoy.
