A colorful, joyful image of ballerinas and musicians is the winning entry for the 2013 Broomfield Days poster contest. Dianna Wilson, a watercolor artist who has long been involved in Broomfield's arts community, is this year's winner. Her poster, which includes eye-popping colors painted carefully on a special plastic canvas to saturate the hues, will be printed in honor of this year's Broomfield Days celebration. "I'm tickled to death," Wilson said after an artist's reception on Friday at the Brunner Farmhouse. "I just wanted to do something bright." This year's poster theme was "Celebrating The Arts in Broomfield," and judge Kristin Bueb said Wilson's piece certainly fit the bill. "It's nice and bright and colorful. It just pops out as fun and whimsical," she said. This year, seven artists submitted 10 poster entries, including a mixed-media depiction of a marching band in the Broomfield Days parade, a close-up painting of lush peonies and a realistic watercolor painting of columbines in a forest. All of the entries in the Broomfield Days poster contest will be on display Monday through Sept. 6 at the Mamie Doud Eisenhower Public Library, 3 Community Park Road. Broomfield Days will be Sept. 21 in Midway Park. To order a poster, call 303-460-6800 or e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
